A Closer Look
UF / Fluid Removal
UF is one of the terms you may hear often during hemodialysis. It refers to ultrafiltration—the removal of fluid during treatment.
UF goal
The UF goal is the programmed fluid-removal goal for that treatment. It is part of the treatment plan set and monitored by the dialysis team.
Why time matters
Fluid removal happens over the treatment session. The amount of fluid and the time available are part of why the care team watches how you feel and how treatment is going.
Something felt different?
Cramping, dizziness, weakness, nausea, or other changes during treatment are useful to report to staff rather than trying to interpret the UF numbers on your own.
